Tareek

For Tareek, success was above all a question of perseverance. He started out as a stand-up comedian in high school, encouraged by his fellow students. He made his debut on the small stages of Parisian cafés-théâtres while pursuing his medical studies. His best asset, he says, is his talent for repartee. Among his influences, he cites Jamel Debbouze, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy.

But the call of humor was stronger, and he ended up abandoning his studies. A radio presenter on Beur FM, he multiplied his opening acts and was even spotted in 2012 by Jamel Debbouze, who integrated him into the Jamel Comedy Club. He took part in a number of films and made his name in 2018 when he appeared on La France a un incroyable talent.

His shows revolve around his life as a divorced, single dad, a subject he treats with lightness. He likes to track down the little moments in life in which audiences can recognize themselves. He imagines his shows as a night out with friends, where we chat sincerely, even if it means being a little crude at times. His challenge: to find the funny in a situation as complex as divorce or raising a child alone.

But if reviews of his shows are anything to go by, Tareek’s greatest talent is improvisation. True to the art of stand-up, he loves to interact with his audience, questioning them and pushing them a little, offering them a new experience every time.

Yet his current success is just a stepping stone for him. After his one-man shows, Tareek dreams of making movies. He is currently writing two films, which he hopes to direct in the near future.
